Robert Pearlman | collectSPACE 'Baby Yoda' revealed as zero-g indicator on SpaceX Crew-1 missionThe astronauts who lifted off on SpaceX's first operational crewed mission for NASA are proving "this is the way." A few hours after launching to the International Space Station on Sunday (Nov. 15), the Crew-1 astronauts showed off their fifth crew member — a small plush doll of "The Child." |
Robert Pearlman | While it is not yet confirmed (better images are needed), this may be the zero-g indicator toy: |
spaced out | Looks right to me Robert. They are sold under different brand names by different sellers. Note that there are two larger versions of the same doll but I think the 6" version is the correct one. |
Ronpur | This is the only one I have seen with feet and such pink ears. It looks like it. |
GACspaceguy | The Child has arrived at The Karst-onian. It appears to be the correct version as Robert posted. Although I think The Child is wondering what other space station is inside that curio.

Robert Pearlman | Crew-1 commander Mike Hopkins was asked today about how The Child (aka baby Yoda) was selected. He answered, in part: We had just started watching the series and it is hard not to like baby Yoda. It seemed appropriate for our crew, as well. We like to have a lot of fun and we have been having a lot of fun. I think the ride into space was probably a little rougher than baby Yoda was used to, compared to what he rides normally. (Obviously, on that last point, the crew hasn't had a chance yet to watch Season 2.) |
Robert Pearlman | The Child (#BabyYoda) has arrived... ...and he brought a couple of friends. |
CMD_OVRD | Awesome collection! Looks like you nailed the correct Baby Yoda! |
CMD_OVRD | This is a photo posted by Mike Hopkins that I zoomed in on. I'd say this would confirm the correct baby Yoda zero-g indicator! |
thisismills | Nice find, thanks for sharing. |
Ronpur | At least we know what his name is now!
